Don't Put Off Tomorrow

Today's post is just a brief one to say hello and just something to think about.
My husband lost a very dear friend today after an extended illness. Even though as people we know and understand that people can become ill and terminal, we never expect that person to REALLY leave us.
Thats how we are geared or programmed as human beings.... We are selfish and we just want that person here with us physically.
My husband and I had prepared and on several occassions said we needed to go see our friend, but sometimes life gets in the way. I know thats not a real excuse, but just just how things happened.
I do know this...when it is placed on your heart, mind, and soul to call someone or go see someone, dont put it off till tomorrow. You never know if you will ever see that person again.
But then again, maybe its how things should have been...for us to remember him smiling, vibrant, with an infectious personality and his bushy almost but not quite handle bar moustache... We will miss you Jose'.

What's For Dinner????

You're probably saying to yourself.."I thought this was a fashion blog??!"
Well, did you read the name of the blog? Let me explain it to you.. Yes, I like fashion. Correction, I LOVE FASHION! And I am frugal,NOT cheap! So what does dinner have to do with being frugal AND fashionable? It has everything to do with it... Its all relative if you ask me.
I like to cook meals that are first and foremost healthy, economical, and timesaving. Thus, I am frugal with my time and money. And if I am saving money, then guess what?! There is more money left for me to spend with fashion AND vice versa!! It makes total sense! (at least in my brain it does).
I am a YouTube Junkie and I got this recipe from TheSocialiteLife, check her out and follow her on Twitter @SocialiteSande. The woman has an awesome sense of style and is gorgeous! She posted this recipe that she got from Pinterest and I got it from her and made it my own.
That being said, on to the recipe...
Set & Forget Chicken
4 -6 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
Minute Rice
Cream of Chicken OR Cream of Mushroom Soup (1-2 cans or mix-n-match!)
Packet of Onion Soup mix
Finely Crushed Bread Crumbs (optional)
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Black Pepper
Multi Colored Mini red, yellow, orange peppers(optional, I just like color in my food)
Take chicken and season with pepper, garlic, and onion powders. Set to side.
Take rice and pour serving preference in mixing bowl. Add amount of water specified for serving amount. Add in cream soup or soups, 1 can of water and mix all together.
Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray and pour in rice mixture.
Layer chicken breasts on top of rice. Top chicken with onion soup mix or bread crumbs. Or both! The choice is yours, make it your own. Garnish with the peppers, seal tight with aluminum foil.
Pop in oven set at 385° for 1-2 hours, and voila`! Your meal is done. Add some veggies and its a wrap..
My hubby liked so much, he told me to put this into dinner rotation!
The thing about this recipe, is you can tweak it the way you want to suit your needs.
Till next time.... Smooches!!

Money Matters Monday

It has been a somewhat laid back weekend, even if I had to work. Sunday , I was on call, so yaaay!! It was my husband's AND my son's birthday, and we got to have family time which was very special.
Can you believe the department stores have Halloween stuff out already? And, this weekend's Labor Day holiday signifies the end of summer, and sales, sales, sales!!!!!
I have been keeping my eye on a few things..... All on clearance at my local Chernins Shoe Warehouse!! There is nothing wrong with stocking up for next summer. And the best part is, you can pay up to 80% LESS!! I also do this for the kids, but I purchase their things a size up. In this economy, you have to go for the bargains. Then again, we should be going for all bargains no matter the economy... It just makes sense! I know my money matters, and yours should too!

TGIF!!

What a week it has been!! But today was the start of my work week, so Im posting a little late today. So, even though I had to work, I was able to get something fashionable. I know that this year or summer has been all about the "arm candy". Well, I have a coworker that has been making jewelry and bling for at least 8 years. She knows I love bracelets and she has been making her own version of the Shambhala bracelet. And let me tell you, this bracelet for me was just the most.. She hand blows the glass beads herself and she threads them onto ribbons of silk and completes them with a very sturdy magnetic closure. The bracelets retail for $25 and I feel they are very good quality. So enough of me rambling....here's pics... Smooches!!

Lost & Found

So, Im looking through my closet, trying to find this chevron printed skirt that I thrifted from Goodwill this summer and lo and behold, I stumble across a bag from TJ Maxx with new clothes that I bought and threw into the back of my closet back in APRIL!!!! (GASP!!!....and yes, I am a Maximista).
Now, I know Im not the only person with this problem... ummhmm. The summer is almost over and I haven't even worn these things..so, I guess I may have a little dilemma or maybe not.

My plan...Mix them up and transition them into the fall season.... Oh, I hope this works.
(Top Pic Left to Right: Multi color Paisley print caftan/swimsuit cover up, romper, tribal print cold shoulder top; Bottom Pic: Tribal Print Maxi Dress, Floral Print Maxi with Braided Belt, Royal Blue Knit Sleevless Drape neck Sweater) (My apologies for the wrinkled clothes....they've been in the closet for almost 5 months).
So, I think I may throw jeans with the 3 tops and blazers or sweaters with boots.  As for the dresses, um maybe blazers, sweaters tights and booties... I dunno... What do you think? Im open for suggestions.
And as for that chevron print skirt.......STILL haven't found it yet. :-/
Till later...SMOOCHES!!!

Happy Hump Day Wednesday!

Its the middle of the week and guess what??? That means the weekend is almost here..Yaaaayyy!!! Which is a good thing for most people, but I work the weekends.  Anyway, I started off my day by doing errands; which is a good thing I guess because most people who work during the week cant take care of a lot of business on the weekends.... OK, I digressed a little.. but Im at home alone and I start surfing the web on my laptop  AND surfing Netflix on my TV (the wonders of modern technology).  Im thinking of a couple things: 1. What should I blog about? 2.  What's for dinner?
And I figure why dont I tell you about one of my favorite shopping sites, what Im watching on Netflix, and what's for dinner. So, here we go....
www.gojane.com
I am lusting for these shoes, but they are not in stock in my size!! AARRRGHHH!!!! Needless to say I will be stalking this website until they are restocked.  They retail for  $26.99
www.Netflix.com
Ok I know I may be late, but I discovered this show called Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys,  and this show is so cute, funny, and touching. Im sure the title is self explanatory, but is shows the dynamics of couples/best friends and the man is gay.  You see the love that is shared between the couples and the longevity in the relationships.  As David tells his BFF Elisa, "Men and Women are have excellent relationships until they have sex." and I think he may be on to something. But anyway, its a really good show and I have already started Season 2.
As for dinner, well its going to be spaghetti with ground turkey, fresh red, and yellow peppers with steamed asparagus and garlic bread.
Well, until next time my friends....SMOOCHES!

Trendy Tuesday for Fall 2012

I love autumn...the changes in the foliage, and trees....it may have something to do with me being an October baby.  But most of all, I LOVE to pull out the layerings of clothes.  You know the transitioning pieces in the closet.  Blazers, tees, scarves, tights, vests. Fall fashion can be so versatile. If its cool in the morning, throw on a cardigan; if its 80 by noon, peel it off and show off a cute tank or tee.
Some of the things I see trending for the fall include animal prints, reptilian textures for leather real and faux, spicy colors like mustard, crimson, and paprika.... And guess what??? the NEW BLACK IS........ BLACK!!
I think I may just have to shop my own closet. Then hit my local sales rack at TJ Maxx! That is something anyone can do. Fashion can be remixed and updated to go with the trends. Till next time my Lovelies...Smooches!!!

Healthy Monday

<p>Its the start of a new work week and I know sometimes its hard to get your get up to go so..... Here are a few suggestions:
1. Sound... Listen to music; let your favorite DJ get you going, or set your ipod to wake you with your favorite tune.. Doesn't matter if its Rihanna or Bach, just crank it up.
2. Sight... Yellow has been proven to stimulate good mood and energy. Paint a room yellow, or if thats not in your budget, then open the curtains and let some rays of sunshine in!
3. Smell... Ever wonder why most toothpastes and mouth washes are minty fresh? Well, the smell AND taste of Peppermint have been proven to stimulate energy... Smart marketing!
4. Taste ... Anything with orange or citrus tastes wake up the tastebuds AND the vitamin C boosts immunity and energy... Two for the price of one!
5. Touch... Something smooth and soft like a polished stone or marble, or even your furry best friend Fido... The calming sensation can give you an energy boost.
***Beauty Bitz*** Target has Maybelline Define A Brow in Medium Brown on CLEARANCE for $1.88!!
All of these things can get your get up in gear so you can go.. Now, you're ready for the work week!!

Rocker Chic

While strolling through my local Kohls Department Store this week, I stumbled upon this Rock & Republic light grey denim jacket.... in the clearance section!!! It originally retailed for $90, but I got it for ONLY $26!!! I think I can totally rock this out glam, then dress it down with jeans also. This piece has so much potential to be worn different ways. Thats what I love about buying key pieces for my wardrobe.I plan to rock this baby several different ways, and when I do, I will most certainly post pics...
